Worst Dressed at the 2011 Met Gala !

You really couldn't go wrong on a night all about fashion, but there were a select few that could have added more pizzazz (or less).

10. Sofia Vergara
Sofia's fashion choices have always enhanced her famous figure, and while this dress is lovely, it was a bit too simple for one of fashion's biggest night! The colors aren't bold enough and the print gives it a bit of a homebody feeling. Not enough dazzle or va-va-voom at all!

9. Dakota Fanning
I don't care if applique flowers are made of $500/inch silk, sticking them on dresses does not make it anymore fashionable! This will always remind me of plastic floral arrangements that collect dust on your mom's coffee table.

8. Livia Giuggioli
Livia's hair and make-up is gorge! And throughout this year's awards season, she's hit all the right marks. But the odd open-skirt/cape makes this outfit strange and confusing. It would have been a much more striking look with the glittering pantsuit by itself.

7. Blake Lively
As the new face of the much coveted house of Chanel, I expected much more from Blake. This outfit is drab compared to what we've seen her in before and the half-dress/half-drape look is hard on the eye. Uninspiring.

6. Emily Browning
This dress is very cute and chic, but Emily didn't do anything to make herself pop. The bag and shoes are a mismatch and make the overall look chunky and boring. Perhaps a slicked-back do and dramatic make-up would have taken this to the next level since she's got the bone structure to pull it off!

5. Joy Bryant
Compared to what Joy rocked last year, this look is B-O-R-I-N-G. This sweater dress is too casual for an event like this and is more beach chic than city glam. The colors are also uninspiring and the overall look leaves no room for that extra x-factor. Maybe next year!

4. Mary-Kate Olsen
I'm really tired of a multi-millionaire making such confusing and unflattering fashion choices. With the world's best designers and stylists at her disposal, Mary-Kate always chooses clothes that does nothing for her. This gown is oversized and shapeless, and would it kill her to put her hair up in a bun sometimes? Such a shame since we've seen MK rock out high-fashion before.

3. Fergie
This dress is so detailed and dramatic, but somehow Fergie takes it down a notch or two. She could have used more dramatic and bold make-up and an upswept do to really pull viewers in. The potential is there, but falls so very short. Fergie could have polished this look way more, but instead it comes off overdone and messy.

2. Chrissy Tiegen
At any other event, this dress would have been a disaster. And although appropriate for such a fashion-focused event, there is just too much going on! The focus here is obviously the sheerness of the sheath, but the feathered neck boa along with the unflattering, layered train turns this into a mish mash of indecisiveness.

1. Christina Ricci
A very lovely dress, but Christina is a very tiny lady. Unfortunately, portion is everything sometimes, and this is just too much dress! The lace veins and over-the-top train proves to be more of a distraction than attention. A testament that size (and proportion) does matter!

Hope you enjoyed my take on this year's list! What are your thoughts? Who else would you have added to the list?

Met Gala 2011 - Best Dressed

To be honest, I was a bit unimpressed with all the dresses at this year's Met Gala. This event is suppose to be striking, daring, and inspiring. While just as glam as any awards show, the vibe here is fashion - so it should be different. I kept looking for that WOW factor and it fell short of expectations. While there were truly beautiful dresses, none of the choices seemed avant-garde enough.

This year's gala paid tribute to the late, great Alexander McQueen. Most of the great gowns of his collection were in the exhibit, so there was certainly a shortage of McQueens out there. As far as other designer's represented, the number count was Stella McCartney and Chanel. Perhaps the attendees did not want to take away from the shining star of the Gala - Alexander McQueen himself.

Here are my choices for the top 10 Best Dressed at this year's Met Gala:

10. Maggie Gyllenhaal
Maggie kept her look and make-up very minimal, but what I like about this is the freshness compared to everything else. She chose a great color and beautiful silhouette. The texture and material of the fabric is gorgeous and reflects beautifully. Compared to what everyone else was wearing, this one is a star!

9. Ashley Greene
While not necessarily the most inspiring of dresses, this one clearly boasts fine craftsmanship. The large and voluminous train gives this dress that much needed punch and Ashley's upswept-do and jewelry complete the look.

8. Naomi Watts
Naomi looks lovely in this unique, sheer-sleeved creation! I am really digging the whole sheer look as of late, and adding it to a long-sleeved dress has made it fashionable. While this look could be written off as dowdy or "old," Naomi pulls it off beautifully with her hair and make-up, and more importantly, she didn't play it safe! The sparkles give it an added pop as well!

7. Dianna Agron
Dianna has quickly risen as one of the young fashionistas and this look does not disappoint! The halter-cutout, slick-back ponytail, and gold cuff gives an edgier feel and she pulls it off nicely! This was more of the direction I was hoping all the other celebs of the night would be going for.

6. Amy Poehler
I'm pretty sure this woman just had a baby, and she looks fantastic! I feel this look could have been a bit more polished, but I've chosen it nonetheless because it represents the night - daring. This look is definitely outside of her comfort zone and she pulled it off! From the hair to the make-up and necklace, it certainly is glam and edgy at the same time!

5. Sarah Jessica Parker
One of the nude, long-sleeved dresses of the night, but this one is from McQueen himself. It showcases the intricacies and form-fitting silhouettes that the designer made famous! The slightly cowled collar gives a turtleneck effect, but still manages to be haute couture!

4. Gwyneth Paltrow
Besides last night's big trends of nude gowns and long-sleeved dresses, sparkles had a presence - and this gown does not disappoint. Sparkling from head-to-toe, Gwyneth's overall look showcases her form nicely. Her make-up is minimal to keep the focus on the dress - and those legs!

3. Michelle Monaghan
I was seriously going to give Michelle the top spot - I absolutely LOVE this look! Another long-sleeved concoction, but the simple lines and vibrant pink make this one a standout! Combined with her sexy bangs and voluminous hair, silver cuff, and make-up this one was one of the best of the night!

2. Jennifer Lopez
J. Lo edged out Michelle by choosing this daring, cut-out dress. Coupled with her slicked-back chignon, bold lips, and flower bolero, J.Lo delivers major high-fashion notes. The fuschia pink was also a beautiful color choice!

1. Ginnifer Goodwin
Ginnifer AND Topshop earned the top spot of the night for this stunning, emerald green, cutout gown! The hue is on trend and bold - standing out from all the others of the night! Coupled with her eye make-up and dark pixie cut, this look screams edgy and glam!!

What do you think? What are some of your favorite looks of the night? Hope you enjoyed the looks! Stay tuned, tomorrow I'll be doing the Worst Dressed!
